Am I on the right path?

A few weeks ago, I stepped into a gym for the first time in 15 years. Even 15 years ago, I think I went only 2 or 3 times and just walked on the treadmill. So, I'm basically a newbie when it comes to knowing what I'm doing! I got some guidance from my brother on what to do, when and how. I'm currently strength training 4 days a week (back/bicep, chest/tricep, shoulders and then the dreaded leg day lol). After my strength training, I typically hop on the stationary bike for anywhere from 10-20 minutes. On my off days, I try to get to the gym for at least 20 min on the bike. I'm eating at a deficit as well, as I have about 70 lbs I want to lose. Am I going about this the right way? Should I be adding anything to my routine? Any advice for this newbie would be greatly appreciated!

You have a great plan. As you get used to things and more familiar, I would look into a weight lifting program that is a bit more progressive, where you have more compound moves. It may be beneficial to pick up a book like "the new rules of lifting for women" to help provide a structured program. But overall, the weight loss is from the diet. So if you don't use a food scale, that would be the first thing I would change.0

Thanks for the encouragement! I do use a food scale/measuring cups for most items, but I should probably use it as much as I possibly can. I've heard about the book about lifting for women, maybe I will pick that up! I'm new to all of this, so I should learn as much as I can0
