I have been inactive for a long time. I am starting to do a few at home exercises. I am not sure how often I should and how hard to push myself at the beginning. I know I am not doing much, but it is what I can for now.
I started just walking 3 miles and I was tired and sweaty but I was okay
Wed I did a few exercises at home (lunges, squats, pushups, crunches, jumping jacks). 3 sets of 10 I had to do the push ups on my knees and I didn't use any weights.
Yesterday my thighs were really sore which surprised me. I am still a little sore today.
I am going on a 5K walk tomorrow.
I am not sure if I try to listen to my body and do things at a slow pace at first or if I just need to stretch more or if I should push myself harder.

If you push yourself too hard in the beginning you will be miserable. You should always listen to your body. If your muscles are sore let them rest for a day and then work out again tomorrow. Stretching before and after working out will help ease some of that soreness, too.0

Good for you for getting some work done!
This is a tough one to answer because we don't know how sore you really are. A few questions:
Are you so sore that it's interfering with your day?
Are you enjoying the exercise?
Are you stretching before and after?
If you are so sore that it's interfering with your day, take a rest day or, if it's really bad, see someone. If you are just moderately sore, you're ok. If your soreness eases when you move, you are ok. I sit at a desk all day so after a particularly hard workout, I will be sore when I get up but after moving around a little, I'm ok.
If you are enjoying the exercise, go for it. Walking is a great way to ease soreness from the calisthenics you are doing.
Stretching is really important.0 -

I am okay, definitely don't need to see anyone. Thanks.
I think I will try to find more upper body exercises for today so I am not sore for the walk tomorrow. Do you know anywhere i can find good examples of stretches? I don't really know what I am doing0 -

Alternating is a great idea!
You can Youtube stretching exercise and see what works for you. I like the pigeon stretch, hamstring stretch (hold foot with leg bended behind you), spider man stretch and scorpions a lot.0
