I've got a year to lose as much as possible (I'm getting married)I'm size 24 (UK) and would like to slim down healthily by eating clean and regular excercise. Just wanted to hear from people who have lost "x" amount in a year to motivate myself!

I haven't been doing this for a year yet, but I can tell you I've lost 60 lbs in 6 months.

How the time has flown.
Start Date 08/27/2013 = 432lbs

Amount Loss - 195lbs0 -
Awesome! Great to hear people manage to lose a fair bit within a year. I was worried I haven't given myself enough time! How often should I exercise ?0
-
195?! Blimey!! I wish I could lose that much, don't see it happening! Well done you0

Initially, I went from 240lb to 175lb in about 6 months doing p90x twice.0

I lost 20 pounds in 3 and a half months.0

I became serious in March, at about 180 pounds. Being careful to properly weigh my food whenever possible, exercising 3-4 times a week, and allowing myself to make mistakes and taking so time off for a big move and vacation I am down to 140 pounds. I have gone from a US size 16 pant to a size 60

What sort of calorie intake was everyone on? I am for 1300 a day at the moment although I must admit to only eating about 400 in the day and snackig on healthy stuff in the evening when I get most peckish! & I'm on homemade vegetable soups (no fat just veg, stock, herbs and more veg) for lunch and dinner & I get my protein at breakfast with eggs and drink milk in my tea, so I'm hoping I'm getting enough of everything my body needs.0

I think MFP started me at 1460, if I remember correctly. It has me at 1200 now. I usually log 100-150 calories less than my HRM says I burn during a workout, and I eat back what I log.0

I've lost ~45 pounds in 9 months and I'm close to 'done'. With the weight loss part, at least. 25-50 pounds is a realistic expectation for 1 year IMO depending on how much weight you have to lose.
For most of this year I have aimed for 1400-1600 per day, and 2-3 times a month higher. Those 'higher' days were either aiming to eat at maintenance (so around 1900-2100) OR came with an extra-active day.
Now I aim for 1600-1800 and soon expect my 'maintenance' level to be about 2000.0 -
I've been up and down so much, but at one point in my life, I lost 75 lbs. in one year, the first time I ever did WW. Unfortunately, it was not a permanent sort of deal. I lost 15 more in about 6 months to hit 90 lbs. down, felt great for like 2 days.....then it all went straight to chit.0

Sep 19th 2013 I weight 234lbs and as of Sep 20th 2014 I am 150.4lbs, so a total 83.6 pounds lost in a year. It will take me about another 3-4 months to reach my first goal and probably a year plus after goal one to get my body where I want it.
I have eaten 1400 cals, probably netting less, which was not good for me, to now eating 1700-1900 cals to lose a pound a week. Everyone is different, but do not go under 1200 calories a day.
Two good starting points

I only lost about 50 my first year. I have lost 80 total in about a year and a half. I have been on here for over 2 years, but was pregnant for some of it in the beginning. I am hoping to have 100 pounds lost by my 2 year mark which will be March 1st 2015 (Also my 35th birthday)0

53 lbs in 9 months. 1650 net calories, so most days I was eating 1900. Went from a size 16 jeans to a size 1-2. I weightlift 3x a week and take care of my kids. Clean buildings 3x a week for a few hours. Most important thing for me was logging accurately and hitting my macros...lots of ice creams.0

My ticker shows how much I have lost in 10 months (76). I slip up sometimes with diet, but I mostly stick to 1200-1500. I exercise 5 x per week for 1 hour doing group classes. Currently I do 3 zumba class per week, 1 step aerobics and 1 cardio sculpt. If I waver from my schedule I make up for it doing other things.0

83 lbs in the 1st 12 months, 94 total.0

I lost about 2 stone in 6 months but that was my goal so then I stopped trying to lose.0

Since December 2013 I have lost 55 lbs so far. Still not complete as of yet but hoping to be at 220 and around 14% BF by this December. I started off by just changing my eating habits and lost between January 2014 to July 2013 roughly 30 LBS. IN the past nine weeks I have been doing a program that incorporates weights and cardio before and after the workout for 45 minutes total time 20 before and 25 afterwards. Good luck and it is possible with discipline and motivation on your health. Good Luck.0

I lost it all eating around 2,400 calories a day. (I'm 5 foot 9) I just couldn't take eating at such a deficit as many do... I always felt like crap. So I burned it all through vigorous cardio and weight lifting instead.0 -

It ranges between 2200 and 3000 for me. Depending on what I eat that is healthy and my exercise behind it.0 -
35lbs in about 7 months0

I've lost 39 of the 45 lbs I set out to lose, and at this point the last 6 lbs don't matter as much as getting my body fat % to where I want it to be. I've never had an MFP daily calorie goal less than 1500, and with exercise I've eaten anywhere from 1700-2200 calories per day. Right now I eat 1900 calories to lose. What sort of calorie intake was everyone on? It is highly doubtful that you are getting enough of what your body needs with that eating plan, not to mention that you will lose a huge chunk of muscle along with fat by eating so little. You may lose weight but you probably won't be happy with how you look in the mirror.0 -
I lost about 55 lbs in 6 months. I'm down to 110-113 , depending on the day / time. I'm almost to my goal weight. 10 or 20 lbs should do it .0

I lost about 45 in a year. 30 of it was no calorie counting and just hard work and portion size control. you should meet your calorie goal and to lose weight i recommend you do cardio in between bodyweight exercises. Example - High knees, 20 wall push ups, run in place, 20 vertical pulls, step side to side and pump arms, shoulder press with cans or weights.0

What, 1300 is to little? Or just what I'm eating? I'm getting plenty of fruit & veg so is it my protein I need to up? I've got some nuts and seeds I'm planning on having as a snack tomorrow, but couldn't believe how high in calories they are!
I'm basically trying to avoid pasta, bread and general junk because they are the things I used to binge on!0 -

Unless you open your diary and give us some stats, I really can't comment on your macro breakdown and whether you are getting enough of anything. I do know that only eating 400 calories is not good, even if you do snack in the evenings. Of course, if you aren't weighing, measuring, and logging your food, the whole conversation is moot anyway because it's impossible to determine how much you are eating.0
