Hi everyone,

I just joined yesterday and have really enjoyed reading all the posts from everyone who is in the same boat as me. I have 30 pounds I'd like to lose that has been with me for years now. Back in 2007 I lost someone near and dear to me and had to go on an antidepressant. Six months into being on the antidepressant I had gained 35 pounds. I had weighed pretty much the same since middle school up to that point, and for some reason the medication made me pile on the weight. I've been off it for years now but cannot seem to lose the weight. Now I'm in my early 40's and it's just going to keep getting harder to lose it as I get older. I just feel like now is the time.

Joining was kind of spontaneous and I don't really have a plan. I was just researching different diets yesterday and found this site. I could definitely use some support, as I don't know anyone at all who is trying to lose weight and I am married to someone who can eat enormous amounts of whatever he wants and he still looks like a pencil. So I am very much on my own and would love to get some motivation/inspiration/support from here.

At the moment I think I've got some sort of bug, so the diet's going great, lol! I have absolutely no appetite at all at the moment. My main concern is putting together some sort of diet plan that will work for me. I am a lacto-ovo vegetarian and carbs have been a major staple of my diet. But I'd actually like to try something like Atkins or a keto type diet, but I'm not sure that I'll stick to it since my protien choices would be so limited---eggs, tofu....? Are there any vegetarians out there on a low-carb diet?

I also use a Fitbit Force and joined the Fitbit group. Though my total steps for today are 1218 because of this bug. I will probably get to 2000 today if I am lucky since I am in uber-sloth mode right now.

Anyway, feel free to add me, I'd love some friends for this journey!
