Massive headache when exerscising?

Not sure whats going on. Been exerscising for ~4 weeks and everything was good, however the last two times i've gone to the gym i tend to get a very bad headache right in the back of my head, about level with my ears. Tends to only happen when lifting heavy weights (not when going light). Really not sure what this is or if i should get it checked out, i've been very well hydrated so i'd rule that out.

Make sure you're drinking a lot of water and getting enough potassium. See a doctor.

Are you remembering to breathe? Sometimes that happens because you hold your breath. Also, are you perhaps tensing up your neck when trying to strain for heavier weights?

But it's also apparently a thing that happens to some people on occasion. It was happening to me in the spring and I never got a good answer. There are a variety of threads on bodybuilding.com about it. You should get checked out by a doctor just in case, blood pressure and such, but for me it was just laying off for a while once it happened, since once it did it kept coming back worse (similar to the migraine I used to get in feel).

Minor arterial infections can cause blood flow constrictions in the head. Doc can fix it in a matter of days.

    Good luck!
  • Do you clench your teeth at all when exercising? Could be a tension headache.
