Greetings from the South!

Hi everyone! My name is Jessica. I'm 23 years old and from good ol' South Carolina, where our vices are fried everything and sweet sweet tea. I am the heaviest I have ever been, and entirely too big for my own good, standing 5'4 and weighing.... (ugh).... 260 pounds. This is above ridiculous. I can't look in the mirror without feeling disgusted that I let myself get this way, and I am willing to do anything to change it.

I'm looking for friends from anywhere, but if you live near me, that's great because we may can eventually go walk or run or something. It's more accountable if I know I may run into you at the local grocery! (:

I'm getting married in 203 days, which means I have 202 to lose my goal of 60 pounds and get fit and healthy. I don't care about being skinny so much as I care about being fit.

    Hi Jessica!
I'm Katrina and not at all from down south (Michigander here!) but I'd still love to be your friend, so feel free to add me.

Congrats on your upcoming wedding! And I wish you good luck with your weight loss goal. I would kindly suggest that maybe if your goal truly is getting fit and learning a new way of living, maybe focus on that instead of such a high number/date goal?
Weddings are a bit tricky too because of the whole dress situation.
  • Hi Katrina! My fiancé is actually from New York so I'm used to the Northerners! (:

The date/weight goal is mostly so I have something to record. I refuse to measure myself in inches, and I don't weigh myself but once a week if that. I am more concerned with how my clothes fit and how I feel. I really only have a goal weight so it feels like there is some tangible proof that I am doing something!

I will add you as soon as I figure out how! (:

    Jessica

I visit a close friend that lives in pawleys island a couple times a year, i live in nj and always amazed about how everything is mostly fried down there or all you can eat buffets everywhere !! But you are so lucky to have access to all that fresh seafood that we dont get up here. When i visit and we go out to eat i just tell the waiter if the chef can grill or bake it or put the sauce on the side, dont be shy about asking a more healthy way for them to prepare your favorite dishes, i have found they are usually happy to accommodate. Its always hard to pass up the she-crab soup that i love, but if someone at our table orders it, i just sample a spoonful or two and it satisfies my craving without finishing off a bowl of it which is like a meal on its own :-) Congats !!
