Am almost 56 yrs old single empty-nester. Cook for one when used to cook for 3-4 with big appetites.
Have done the YO-YO dieting thru the yrs and am finding it comes off harder and slower after 50.
Hope to be able to keep up with my 2 1/2 yr old grandson come spring and outdoor activities.
Love to garden, sew ( just started learning quilting/place mats),and cook.
My son and his significant other started here in OCT10 and got me on in Nov 10
Am looking for others who would like to start a mutual support group.
So come along tell a little something of yourself and your goals....

I am new to this site as of today and am looking forward to meeting many women who want to enjoy better health, strength and weight loss. I am almost 57, married for 33 years, no children. Yes, it's very difficult to shed pounds after 50. Sometimes it seems almost impossible no matter what I do! So, here I am, looking for others that know exactly what I'm going through.

I also love gardening. We grow most of our food and we can, freeze or dry for eating all year long. We raise organic chicken and lamb, and also have laying hens for our eggs.

I, too, have a passion for quilting. Would love to hear what you are working on! I enjoy cooking, but sometimes I just can't face going into the kitchen because it seems like that's where I live.

I am located in frigid, snowy Michigan and one of my goals it to get outside, no matter how cold, and get some fresh air and exercise as often as possible. My husband and I are avid geocachers and enjoy hiking, bicycling, camping, fishing. I'm driven to lose 30+ pounds, hopefully by summer, because my long-term health depends on it. Once I meet that goal I'll start another. I also must do strength building exercises due to bone loss from medications and "old age". I'd love to hear what others are doing for their "structured" exercises. I've just dusted off my treadmill, but I'd like ideas about strength training. I really hate exercising and need some friends to keep me motivated.

So, if you'd like to be part of my support group, I'll be glad to be part of yours!

Hi - I love to garden and cook too! I live in the Bahamas so my vegi garden is getting prime right now - then I head to the northeast in the summer so it's a year round hobby! I am also single and cook for one except when I entertain or have company visit so I understand the challenges of cooking for singles! I tend to gravitate towards recipes that make 2 servings (or adapt the recipe to that) and then even before I put anything on my plate - put half in tupperware container and put in the frig for lunch the next day - or if it's a good freezable dish - stash it for a day I don't feel like cooking. Anyway - checkout my profile and I would be happy to lend any support I can! Would be nice to share recipes! Cheers - Carol
