Weight Training Really...

Ok so I am a little backward when it comes to this.
I have been overweight my entire life. Lost 40 lbs three years ago gained maybe 15 back and have stayed active the whole time.
I overcame my fear and took a job at a gym and then ended up actually managing a gym in a large chain.
I have had personal trainer not so much for the result but more or less for technique.
I want 18 lbs off and that is my ultimate goal.
The issue how how HOW do I stay motivated to weight train after being off of it for sooo long. I go through phases of weight training only and Cardio.
Any ideas on how to stay motivated and/or a good idea on how to mix the combination so I don't hate either of them before April (GOAL TIME)

I would either alternate days so that you're not doing the same thing two days in a row, or else do circuit training where you alternate between strength training and cardio. Switch up your exercises on a regular basis so that you don't get bored doing the same things over and over, and also so that your body doesn't get used to the same routine. Hope this helps a bit.0

It helps if u r not doing the same thing everyday. Find forms of cardio that u really enjoy and go with them. I love walking, it helps me clear my head and I can listen to my music as I go so that works for me. I'm not much of a runner as I get out of breath easily but occasionally I might jog for the duration of one song to challenge myself.
There are so many fun cardio activities that we did as children that get forgotten all in the name of going to a gym ( I am by no means discounting the gym, as I love it):
Jump rope
Hula Hoop
swimming
frisbee
trampoline

In my life I've always found that the incentive to cheat and take things a bit easier when exercising is when training by myself. The advice I'd give anyone wanting to do weight training is to get a gym buddy - somebody to ensure the form / technique is good and help when the reps are getting harder to complete. This is why I haven't taken to doing these home exercising DVDs!
Good luck0
