Hi everyone, so we are going on a family cruise in January, there are 9 of us going. The last cruise we went on was way back in 2004 so ten years ago. I had a miserable time on that cruise, for the most part......dress up dinners sucked went to the beach in jeans and a t-shirt just all around did not feel good about myself. But this one in january I want to be different...I want to knock my hubbys socks off on formal dinner night with a dress that kills. Not so much looking to be in a bikini, but shorts and a tank top would be awesome to be comfortable in. my goal is 40 lbs by january 1st. That should put me in a dress sized 12 or 10....which would be awesome. Our kids are also going along on this one, and i would love to be able to be comfortable going in the pool or the ocean with them. but it's just not going to happen where i sit now.

I have been reading through a lot of posts, and looking at everyones success stories, and pictures, and I know i can do this, 40 lbs really isnt all that much, especially when I have 60 + to lose. You guys are so insperational I know i can do this as long as I continue to get all the support i need, and it doesnt even need to be directed at me, just seeing what everyone has accomplished, how they are accomplishing it and reading everyones motivational quotes and words of encouragment is enough.

so.....heres to 40 lbs........you guys are all great!

40 pounds by January 1st is a considerable amount to lose in a healthy manner. You'll have to average over three pounds per week to get there ... a full pound per week more than MFP's default settings allow. Do what you can between now and then but remain realistic.

Your situation is fairly common on this site ... a person wants to be at X weight for an event but waits until a bit too late to start losing. In your case, starting between seven to thirteen weeks ago would have allowed a 1.5-2 lb weekly loss.

I am ok if i only hit 30 lbs, but 40 is ideal, I know myself, and if i say 25 or 30 lbs, i wont work as hard as I should and i will only lose 10. I figure I shoot for 40...i should hit 25-30 and I will be good with that, and that is atainable, I know because I've done it before, the healthy way. BUT once i get feeling good and comfortable, i think I have the problem licked, i let my gaurd down and stop watching what im eating and gain it all back. I will forever be a calorie counter...even when I hit my goal, I will have to count to maintain.

I am not a "oh my god this event is coming up dieter" ive been at this for a long long long time, overall down 80 lbs from my highest weight. so to shoot for 40 isnt a bad thing, even though i know it probably wont be that much...but i've seen it done, i've done it, so why not try
