Two NSV in the past couple days!

First - we have an acre of land and a pushmower. Our yard is very hilly and some parts are quite steep. Normally it takes me up to 3 hours to do the entire yard, and I have to break it up into 45-50 minute incriments. On Thursday I managed to mow for 100 minutes straight and I mowed all but a very very small section of the yard! This was awesome! Next time I'm hoping to finish the entire yard in one swoop.
Second - I am still slow as a turtle, but I increased my jogging time to 5 mph. I did 2.5 miles today in 30 minutes. Woo hoo!
It might not seem like much to some people, but I can feel myself getting better and having more endurance. That makes me feel so much stronger and confident!

I think this is outstanding! Wish I could run 5mph. It takes 45 minutes for me to run 3.1 miles (5K).0

Congrats! I'm with the other poster, I'm still around a 13-15 min mile. 12 min is an exciting milestone0

Congrats! I got to 5mph a few weeks ago and I was so happy! Finally I wasn't running as slow as a brisk walk lol. Can't do 30 minutes straight yet though!
My NSV today was hiking - we did a 4 mile trail, and it was HARD! I went slow, slower, and then got overtaken by passing snails on the STEEP uphills. I was panting hard and not very comfortable, drenched in sweat, but I didn't stop overall I really enjoyed it! I want to go back and do it again!0 -
Congrats on the running - I don't run, so anyone who moves faster that a quick walk gets kudos from me! But, frankly, my dear, I am MORE impressed with your ability to mow an acre of lawn with a PUSHMOWER! Now THAT's a workout (I wonder how many calories you get for that?) Great job!!!!0

Thanks all!
onefortyone - A steep trail (even if it's considered moderate) is always tough! We live at the base of the Blue Ridge Mountains and there are so many amazing trails around here. Can't wait until I get in better shape to hike some of the longer, more difficult ones!
lisele03 - MFP told me I burned a little over 1,100 calories - but I don't have a HRM so I don't know if that's accurate. I definitely didn't eat even half of those back! And yes, it is a crazy workout! One of these days I want to get a pedometer and find out exactly how many miles I walk when I mow too. Back and forth, back and forth, lol! I love it though. Always feel so accomplished afterwards when I see the freshly mowed lawn. It's just that instant gratification!0 -
Also - after my jog/run this morning (I dragged my husband along) and he got to see how I was complaining about my shoes, he ended up treating me to a pair of running shoes! I've been running in my hiking shoes which are fantastic...and great for our hikes...but they are heavy and very rigid and not good for running in but I didn't have any other tennis-shoes. So now, a beautiful pair of Mizunos will get their first set of miles on them tomorrow!

Congratulations to you on all accounts! We have a rider for our hilly lawn, but when it broke earlier this summer and we were forced into push-mowing, I got a heck of a workout in! I don't know what kind of lawn or mower people use that don't think so, but 90 minutes is quite an accomplishment!
Love your pretty new shoes too! I can't believe you've been able to run so long injury-free in hiking shoes. You're faster than me already, but now you're going to FLY!0 -
That's fantastic! Good for you! :flowerforyou:0
