Stomach, I'd like to introduce you to someone. It's called my brain.

Brain, I'd like to introduce you to someone. It's called my stomach.

Now, I need the two of you to communicate with each other. When stomach is full, brain, you say stop eating immediately. Stomach, when you are empty, tell brain to tell hands to get a snack.

We can't finish out these last found pounds without working together guys. Seriously.

Ugh, I just ate lunch, but I can't shut off my brain from thinking it wants more food. (I already have left over spaghetti and a banana and I'm full. Like really full) All I can think about right now is having an apple.

This sucks. They need to talk more. :grumble:

Just had to share my pain.

Very cute post. I guess in the age of cell phones, text messages and online chat, we take it for granted that the communications in our body are just as fast!

It takes 20 minutes after you start eating for your brain to start triggering the "I'm full now" hormones. So it's more like your stomach is sending your brain a letter.

You might want to experiment with different ways to eat more slowly so that your brain can respond before you feel like you've eaten too much ...

It could be that you really just want more water to drink. It's EXTREMELY common to mistake thirst for hunger. Every time we crave something cold to eat, we're really thirsty, not hungry.

Or if you just want a sweet taste in your mouth to end the meal, try a stick of gum, or better yet, brush your teeth!
