binged tonight and am feeling really bad

Tonight was such a bad night for me I'm getting a little teary eyed. I've been in a defecit for 6 weeks doing great, lost 12 pounds and was feeling really good about myself. Then I don't know what happened today I just couldn't stop myself. While I was eating I was even saying to myself I shouldn't be doing this but wouldn't stop. I eventually had to put the bowl down and physically say stop and walk away. I promised myself 2 times today I wouldn't eat anymore and I did. I'm just feeling so bad right now it almost feels like I'm destined to be fat. I don't even want to think how many calories I ate today but easily 3000-3500 when it should've been 2000-2100. Just feeling bad.

First of all congratulations!!! 12 pounds in 6 weeks is amazing! Second-stop beating youself up. Slips happen. Try to eat a little less the next few days and think MORE about your week total and LESS about the daily. It's a learning process and don't give up. Think long term and you will be okay.

Hey, it happens to all of us. Every single one of us. In the grand scheme of things, that extra 1000 calories you chowed down will convert to less that a third of a pound on the scale down the road. You might see an increase in the scale today/tomorrow due to water retention if you ate a lot of carbs or sodium, but don't fret it! It took six weeks before your cravings alarm went off. You deserve a reward for all your hard work! Heck, at the end of my loss, I had at least one cheat meal every week, usually 2 or 3. Six weeks is awesome, man. Come back strong tomorrow and just keep doing what you are doing.

So you might of went 1000-1400 over for one day...hardly a catastrophe.

So instead of losing a pound this week you lost a half a pound.
...or you went into maintenance this week if you are on a half lb a week loss goal. So won't gain at all.

Log what you think you had and own it. It usually isn't as bad as you think.

Go for a brisk walk/run/cycle for a half hour if it bothers you that much, otherwise chalk it up to part of your journey. Perhaps just add 100 calories a day more if you feel the urge again. Losing an average two lb a week on average can make people feel the urge to splurge a bit more sometimes.

It happens to everyone at some point. Just start fresh and try not to beat yourself up over it. We've all been there.
