Extra to what ? The quality of the answer will improve with the amount of information you provide - your diary is closed and we don't know your height, weight, goals, activity level etc.
  • My height is 5 2 and i weigh 226 and my goal is walk 14 miles and lose 86 pounds. Right now i dont know how much protein i eat im really bad at eating in general so some days there is nothing. Im just wondering when should you add protein shakes or bars into your diet.

If your lifting is a progressive load schedule, then eating .8-1g of protein per lb of lean body mass is a good intake estimate if your goal is to minimize the amount of muscle lost during your weight loss regardless of the amount of walking you do. The only way you're going to be able to determine that is if you stop being "bad" at eating and start tracking how much and what you're eating. Just randomly throwing in a shake isn't going to cut it.

But just to be clear, your goal is to walk 14 miles each walking exercise session?
