P90x and total calories you eat??

I was wondering for those of you doing or have done p90x how many calories would you say you ate a day after working out? The reason I ask is because looking at the nutrition guide they provide you should be somewhere in the 2200 range of course is all based on your weight.
Did you guys eat that many calories? or is that not necessary to eat that many with this type of workout?

I never ate the range of calories that the program suggested. i try to keep my calories between 1700-1900 per day, depending on my amount of activity / calorie burn that day.0

I just upped my calories on my menu plan to 1500 from 1300 based upon the advice of my coach because I'm not losing weight at all on P90X so far. I've been at it for a month. I am basically eating the same, but upped my portion sizes a little to get the extra calories in. IE 4oz meat instead of 3oz.0

My friend and I have been following the fitness pal guide and adding exercise. Then we just eat the difference each day minus 200-400 calories each day. I have gone from 250 to 218 from Oct 10 to today. He started at 222 and is now 1780

I lost the MOST amount of weight doing the portion plan listed in the nutrition guide. If you check it out, you don't even count calories but trust that the calories listed in the lists of portions are correct.
That being said...and I don't wanna step on avid X'ers toes, but probably will, I decided one day to actually count the calories in the portions that I was eating...
And it wasn't anywhere near the suggested 1800 calories. In fact, it was actually only about 1400. :blushing:
I believe that you will lose a lot of weight and inches following the P90X diet to the letter, but after looking at the above, I determined that I personally did best keeping my calories around 1400-1600 per day.
I am starting P90X again today, and I made out eating plans for the whole week. I average between 1300 and 1400 daily on my workout days eating 5 meals a day. And my portions are substantial, like today's meal for dinner will have 8 ounces of fish with some black beans and a large (2 cups) Greek salad.
I will keep my calories like this for about 2 weeks and closely monitor my body...like checking my weight frequently, checking my hydration levels, keeping tabs on how I feel throughout the day (am I too tired? etc) and I will make a decision after 2 weeks to either stay at this level or bump my calories up.
But as I said before, on the portion plan in the P90X nutrition guide, I was eating about the same amount of calories as I will be this week. I think the generalizations on their lists account for the differences, especially since quite a few of the brands of foods I choose are lower calorie.
I hope other X'ers don't start hatin' on me now, lol. I'm a P90X grad 5 times over and starting over again today to lose the rest of my body fat. I started a thread in the motivation and support forum if you want to join me. There's a pretty good group over there if you need motivation! :bigsmile:0 -

Thanks for replying I think I might be eating too little calories for doing p90x I am at 1435 before exercise and after exercise I end up like 1300.0

Going to check out the calculator you are talking about, wow not going under 1800 that is a lot I am not eve close to that I am like 1300 after exercise and 1435 before exercise0 -

P90x is a tricky one. Maybe consult a nutritionist because I done this workout and you burn a emormous amount of calories in their brutal workout. It is amazing how fast you see results with it though. Just make sure what you eat is indeed enough or your body may go into starvation mode and store more calories than needed. Hmm Ijust looked and you do, but the free membership will get you access to it. It has a lot of great tools on the website besides that also.0
