Driving vs. the bus

So gas prices went up to $3.99 here. I know we've had these threads before, but I'm just really really really irritated, because I think we're like, the one town that's big enough to have bus lines, but doesn't have any bus lines. If we did, I wouldn't have to pay @%$&*(#% $70 for a tank of gas. It's like, our town is big enough that you can't walk everywhere, but we just don't have buses for some reason. :explode: :explode: :explode:

Sorry, just needed to let that out.

The downside with these gas issues is that its going to be hard to get around right now. BUT it might finally get legislators to start considering decent, cheaper public transit like the rest of the industrialized world. I mean, in japan it costs almost 5000$ american to obtain a driver's license (as of 2004 when my best friend was living there) - very few people drive. But you can take a train from any town to anywhere else in Japan for very little money. The big difference though is you can fit about 500 Japans in the US.

If its an option, get a bike. When my jeep died 2 years ago I bought a bike and it paid for itself about 4 times over in less than 3 months. I rode that thing EVERYWHERE.

I so feel you... I'm in Chicago Burbs, not to far from you. Actually have a friend that lives in Efflingham.. but gas is 4.09 in some places here.. I just filled up at 3.98 a gallon and I had a quarter of a tank and still paid 30bucks.. That's crazy. I'm so happy I didn't buy the F150 that I wanted. I'd be going nuts.

I thought about a bike, but where I live you can't ride a bike.. I live in a huge town, plus my family lives towns over... And I have a 2yr old.. lol So I have to drive.

I had to walk to drop my daughter off at school, and walk back to pick her up, because there is NO gas in my car. I could not, however, walk to the grocery store, and therefore I ran out of gas AGAIN....So between my workout, cleaning my house, and walking 2 miles with a gas can, I think it's safe to say I got my exercise for the day.

I think high gas prices suckmad0233.gif
and it's forcing a lot of people to cut back on other, necessary things.

Dashing eh? I like the sound of that...makes me feel like I should be swinging across the deck of an old ship with a dagger in my teeth.
