Eating more to lose

In the past few months, I have had some unexplained weight gain. After multiple attempts in losing the weight myself, I decided to hire a trainer/nutritionist. My diagnosis was not eating enough to support my workouts, specifically (good) fats & (complex) carbs. Everything I was consuming stored as fat (which I believe as my body fat % has increased 4% in the past 6 months). I am now on a clean-"diet" & eating every 2.5 hours. I have been ordered to consume a minimum of 1500 calories per day (more on heavy exercise days). I have put the scale away and will only be measuring body % and inches.

Has anyone else had the same experience with good results? It is really difficult for me, mentally, to eat so much and so frequently, especially in the beginning as my body adjusts.

Thanks in advance!

I just literally got that feedback today from my trainer about not eating enough! I keep the 1200 calorie, sedentary settings on MFP and try to eat all those calories plus at least half of my exercise calories. However, some weeks (particularly hormonal ones) I simply don't want to eat more. However, this is day one of boosting my caloric intake - more healthy fats and proteins as my carbs are fine. We shall see! I will give it a month and re-evaluate.

If I prepare the foods I take to work in advance, I find it is not so bad. The hard part will be eating an extra "snack" during the day that I normally don't eat. I have to eat 200-300 calories MORE a day ... it seems that I am burning more calories than I thought. So ... I am boosting my nut intake as well as adding some coconut oil to my coffee in the mornings. I am also going to cook a little extra meat for the evening meals so I can add it to salads for the following day's lunch.
  • I TOTALLY feel you. I started off obese, and lost a lot of weight by a really low calorie diet. So when I plateaued and then gained a little I was VERY resistant to eating MORE.

I bumped my calories up to 15-1700 a day and I lost. Then I started focusing on weights and I raised my calories up to 1800 and I still lost. It's not how I started my weight loss journey, and I was SUPER against it before.........but it's working now. :)
