Grilled vs Fried makes a BIG difference!

My husband and I went to Buffalo Wild Wing Bar and Grill for lunch today. It was the first time we'd been. Since both of us have made healthier changes to our eating habits, we had wraps and substituted a salad for the fries. I got a grilled chicken wrap and he got a regular wrap with fried tenders in it. The waitress didn't ask us for a salad dressing preference and brought both of us a packet of regular ranch dressing. After looking at the nutrition info on the salad dressing, I decided to ask for a light or fat free dressing. After we got home, I decided to calculate our lunch calories so I could figure what we could have for dinner. WOW! Was I surprised! I am soooo glad I made the choices I did, because they made a HUGE difference. By getting grilled instead of the fried chicken, I saved 400 calories. Using fat free dressing instead of regular saved me another 170 calories. In addition to those calories saved, I also worked out this morning and 'earned" 430 calories.
Hubby is out walking with his pedometer to earn dinner.
Just had to share what we learned today. Hope everyone is having a wonderful day.

Isn't it shocking what a difference those things can make? I used to be an all-fat ranch lover, then I switched to light ranch and now I use a low-fat oil-based dressing which usually only has about 35-50 calories in 2T vs. 90-100 in the ranch. Next time, try their naked chicken tenders! They're seasoned and grilled chicken strips. With a bit of their bbq sauce they're delicious and since there's no breading you really get to taste the seasonings!!0

Fantastic choices! Way to go!!! We love BWW and usually get the naked tenders with buffalo chips (potato rounds). Isn't it amazing how simple substitutions saves so many calories?!? A+ job!0

It really was a shocker. My wrap was 600 cal and his was 1000! WOW! I had thought about getting the naked tenders and a salad. Next time I will.
I'm proud of my hubby. He earned 2c of soup and a salad for dinner by going for a walk.0 -

Thanks! I appreciate it!0 -
I think most people are shocked to learn how fattening so-called healthy salads are out there. Sometimes, a plain simple burger at a restaurant or fast food place has fewer calories & fat than their salads. And yes, grilled vs fried, low fat vs regular fat....it adds up! Glad you guys made good choices Kimmie :bigsmile:0
