I've been eating under 30g of carbs for awhile now and have never felt better. Just make sure you get enough protein and eat a lot of fats.. and mind your calories also. I don't recommend cutting carbs completely though. You should eat raw vegetables with your meals.

As far as what to eat it's pretty simple. Just buy meat and vegetables. Go for the darker meat when buying chicken.. they're higher in fat and less expensive, and in my opinion taste way better. Ground beef is good for making burger patties, or just pan frying them to make crazy good salads. MMMmm I'm having one today lol

Also, cheese is great. Alone, melted on stuff.. string cheese, blocks, etc.

Eggs.. baby spinach, romaine lettuce. I also eat canned tuna a couple times a week, but I add mayo or blue cheese to up the fats. Tastes better anyway.

    I'm hungry now.

    Hope that helped!

I once did Atkins for a year and a half. And I stayed under 20 carbs, because, well...that's what I had for ME to maintain without gaining. But I totally recommend that YOU do for YOU, since 30 is recommended.

The first week is the hardest, while your body adjusts, but once you're through that, it's smooth sailing. I, too, am doing the whole no/low carb THANG. It really did work for me. And all my blood work was fantastic (much to my vegetarian doctor's surprise!), I just switched jobs, doing graveyard and starting eating at odd hours and snacking on whatever was at hand and, well, there are either excuses or results, right? And my excuses turned into where I am now.

The trick to all of this? TRACKING EVERYTHING YOU PUT INTO YOUR MOUTH!! When you're tracking you're food, you're VERY conscious of whether or not you want to put it into your food diary. It makes being accountable a real thing. It creates an awareness of your choices and puts them front and center. You really can't cheat.

Just tell yourself the first week will be hard. But it's only a week. At the end of it, you can be two things: just like you are or in ketogenesis. The choice is yours!

I hope that helps. Good luck!

Oh! PS... I like to make lettuce and cabbage wraps. They're chicken or tuna (or whatever salads) wrapped in lettuce or cabbage leaves. They're nice to keep on hand in the refrigerator for when I'm hungry during the day... But the trick is to eat as much as you want, when you want. Large portions of meat and all the veggies you want. You should NEVER REALLY BE HUNGRY if you consuming enough protein and fat. :)

And I forgot to tell you that I lost 30 lbs in the first month and 20 in the second, so it took me no time, really, to reach my goal weight.

I wouldn't give up carbs - I would just try and reduce them if you can!!!

I cut all carbs - Ie pasta, bread, potatoes, rice etc - Yes I lost some weight - But boy did my body crave them!

Now I eat carbs - I just try not to eat lots of them if you know what I mean.

    Low carb - High protein!!

Snack on fruit, protein bars, greek yoghurts, veggies, nuts, peanut butter

Eggs are really good for omelettes if you like those - I love eggs!!

Scrambled eggs with smoked salmon is yum & filling

Any food consumed while losing weight should also be what you consume once maintaining. So if you're cool being very low carb at maintenance, then go for it. But if not, then you'll notice gains in water-weight as low carb is generally a great way to lose a lot of water weight. You won't lose more fat by eating at a deficit with low-carb intake compared to the same deficit at moderate or high carb.

I've done low carb for crash dieting and yes, lost weight, but ultimately couldn't sustain it. I agree with the advice don't start it unless you plan to continue it long term.

BTW, I've lost 25 pounds WITH carbs and have never felt fitter and stronger. For exercise, I run (both short and long distances) and weight train.

Good luck, whatever you decide - just know that you don't "have to" do low carb/no carb to lose weight! ;)

So you say you want to do cardio with no carbs...good luck with that man. Carbs are good and you don't need to reduce them to lose weight.

As others have said, I'd contemplate why you're cutting carbs. If you're trying to intelligently put together a weight loss plan, you should have a reason for everything you include in it. So if you're planning to go low carb, I'd start with asking why? What are you hoping to gain from it? Have you tried eating a moderate deficit with balance macros? Are you having issues with satiety/going hungry? If the answer is simply that it worked for your bro, I might rethink your plan a bit. What matters isn't what worked for other people - what matters is what is going to be best suited for you, your preferences and your goals.

Carb free is not really all that possible. However, low carb is. The downside is that until you're adapted, your workouts will suffer for a bit. So be prepared for that.

Some low carb snacks are almonds, soynuts, cheesesticks, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds.

Sometimes the equalition is low carb + a caloric defict = weight loss

This is usually what happens when someone DARES to try something other than IIFYM...

Before this turns into another "the main forums are so mean to low carb!" argument, the OP wants to cut out carbs, do lots of cardio, and weight train only the top half of his body.

Now, the OP hasn't been back, but to me, his post reads as "someone told me if I cut out carbs, do a bunch of cardio to burn calories and fat, and do some chest, arm, and ab exercises, I'll be ripped in no time." The fact that he is trying to go "no carb" says to me that he hasn't really researched this thoroughly and probably isn't someone who needs to cut out carbs for medical reasons or because he thinks low carb/keto is right for his lifestyle.

Hopefully the OP will come back, share his goals, and tell us why he is looking into low carb so people here on all sides of the discussion can give him some advice that will help him gets where he wants to be.

Why? Caloric deficit = weight loss.

Sometimes the equalition is low carb + a caloric defict = weight loss

I'll twist the equation jus' a lil' bit

low on processed carbs + a caloric defict = weight loss

Why won't carrots be good for you? 100 gms carrots have 8 gms carb - it's carb loaded food source.

OP, You got to be careful of what you ask in your original post. I understand you want to restrict processed carbs and not all carbs.

Apologies I missed out the processed bit although to be fair I try and not have potatoes too much too and other than veg (excluding Potatoes) I rarely have carbs in the evening BUT this works for me and does not mean it will work for the OP. Additional BUT I have a generally low carb diet not a no carb diet.

OP, In the end this is what matters. What works for others may not work for you. It ain't one size fits all. You gotta play around.
