Hyperextension

I am weirdly flexible and have hyperextension in my joints, particularly in my knees and elbows. I am trying to work on losing weight and gaining strength in my upper body, but a lot of the exercises are difficult for me. For example, doing a side plank with my arm fully extended feels like my elbow is going to snap. I'm worried that I am missing out on some really effective moves for fear of injuring myself. Does anyone else have similar problems or a possible solution?

I can hyperextend my knees if I'm not careful. So I'm careful and ensure I keep them engaged to prevent that.
Elbow would be the same.0
