Giving up gluten - I'm not fully convinced

I gave up gluten awhile ago and religiously stayed away from every form of it. I lost about 5 lb in the process, which I was kind of/sort of happy with. I gave it up because I was relating some of my symptoms to a gluten intolerance.

The thing is.....I'm not convinced gluten/wheat was the culprit. I can fully appreciate the fact people have to give it up because of celiac disease, or if they have very adverse reactions to it. But for me, I'm not exactly sure gluten was the cause and effect.

Forgive me for what I'm about to say, because it's going to sound like complete common sense to most of you. Exercising regularly has helped me sleep better. I had a great workout last night, and slept so well. Woke up feeling energized. My brain fog at work has decreased recently. That's because I'm more involved in my work. Has nothing to do with gluten.

I think I may have just attributed everything to gluten, when in fact, I didn't have to. I thought it was wonderful I lost all that weight cutting it out, but clearly that's not the culprit because I've gained most of it back. I gained it back not from wheat, but from being lazy. That's all.

My focus now is exercise and proper eating.

Some people do have celiac disease, but no one else has a reason to cut out gluten. It's just the latest food fad to blame gluten for all your ills. I ignore that crap.
