Well, I signed up for a Blacklight run 5k which was supposed to take place in Boston, MA (10 minutes from where I live) and they rescheduled the race to take place about 4 months later to a new venue in Amesbury MA (quite a difference for a drive) Now a week before the race is supposed to happen, get another email saying the race is now taking place in New Hampshire which is an hour or more away from me. WTF and they will not offer refunds, said I have to transfer or donate my registration! I am beyond mad right now so please be careful when registering if you've ever ran this one. I should've checked the Yelp reviews before doing so because even if there are few reviews, they are all bad ratings and I'm not the first one to experience this issue with them.

Did they say why it was relocated? It sucks, but sometimes it's beyond their control...

This happened recently on a Mudderella race (all female Tough Mudder). It was supposed to be in Amesbury MA but something happened with the venue (legal problems) and didn't tell the race coordinators until last minute. So they relocated to the next place they could find and that was Westbrook ME, which is a little over an hour's drive away.

The particpants had the same problems - no refund but you could transfer to a future Mudderella race event.

There are a lot of companies trying to make a quick buck of themed runs who have no idea what it takes to operate one, the real costs in terms of money and logistics, etc. The result is a bunch of races either moving, rescheduling, or simply not happening.
