I thought I was doing well...

I've been making myself a smoothie in the morning for breakfast. I use 1/4 cup frozen pineapple, 1/4 cup frozen strawberry, and 1/2 cup frozen blueberry. I then put in a serving of greens (biotics research Total Green) and some cranberry juice. I put it all in the comp and just with breakfast alone I am WAY over on my sugars.

HELP!

ETA: I am allergic to nuts, dairy, and bananas.

Fruit = sugar. Pretty much any fruit and you'll be way over on your sugar.

If you don't have a medical issue don't worry about it. I personally switched from tracking sugar to tracking fiber - more useful to me.

My only advice if you want to cut back on the sugar is to look at what's in the juice... Maybe use water or another non-sugar liquid instead.

You could look into some fruit that has less sugars, like rasberries instead of strawberry. I have no good substitute for pineapple which has a lot of sugars...sorry.

But unless you have a medical reason (i.e. diabetes, pre-diabetic, etc.), the sugars don't mean much for you. Overall calories will be more important if you have no medical reason.

If you want to continue following your sugars, dump the pineapple: stick with berries (blue, straw, rasp, black) and dump the juice:use water. Or, find a smoothie recipe which emphasizes veggies/greens and de-emphasizes the fruit.

Kinda same as others have said:
Though, a lot of docs do say, if there is any history of diabetes on either side of family, it best to be careful with sugar intake as your more susceptible to becoming insulin resistant over time if a lot of sugar is in diet.

But as long as no history of diabetes in family or pcos, and it not something you have yourself, then sugar not really an issue, though all sugar will make you fat if you dont exercise enough to burn it off as fuel like you would fat.
