Today someone finally said something about my weight loss. I put the wrong start weight and I have lost 20 lbs. (Fixed now) more than on my tracker so a total of 49lbs. and not a peep from anyone. I was getting pissed. It was a great feeling for someone to notice.

Congrats on your weight loss. I'm sure many more people noticed your loss but weight is a funny thing...people often get offended when someone brings up their weight...even if it is a loss.
I am kind of like that. Sometimes if people mention I've lost weight, In my messed up brain I think "did they think I was fat before?"
What I am saying is, I bet many more people have admired your loss from a far but haven't said anything!
Great job on the loss!
Also, you can edit your starting weight to reflect your actual loss.0 -
Well done and congrats on your weight loss. I agree with the above poster that people have noticed but have not step forward and said anything. Commenting on one's weight loss can be a lose lose situation. People fear saying the wrong thing and risk back handedly insulting you. Validation is a wonderful thing and quite motivational but sometimes hard to find. I get more support from those here on this website than from family and friends. Those on MFP can relate and motivate. Good luck with your continued weight loss and stay focused and strong.0

Thanks! I did it on my iPhone and I am blind as a bat and typed it wrong and didn't notice until I was on a PC.
Thanks to everyone for the kind words I am a 3rd of the way there.0 -
Congrats! I know it must be discouraging but weight is such a funny thing. You could lose 5 lbs and people would notice but lose 50 and they just kind of say something is different....0

Congratulations. I suspect people noticed but were not sure if you wanted them to comment or not. 49 lbs is a great loss so be proud of it.0

Well done!
I agree with the posters who said that people probably noticed and haven't said anything. I never know whether to say something, as I can't seem to take comments on my weight loss well. I mean, outwardly I take them well, but inwardly I just feel humiliated that I went out in public looking bigger. When someone commented kindly on noticing the difference in my face, my brain translated it to "You had a really fat face before". Not a healthy attitude, I'm sure, but it makes me reluctant to comment on someone's weight loss directly.0 -
Congrats! It is a good feeling!!! Keep up the good work!0

Nice! Sometimes it takes a while for others to notice (or that they find the guts to comment!)0

Congrats on the weight loss! It does feel good when people finally notice!0

I've lost 46lbs, not many comments. I don't mind. I've gone from a 22 jeans to a 16 jeans. I have a jaw line, and no sag underneath. My rings are lose. I'm sure my horse is grateful. I feel better.
Only comment I had was my hairdresser, my age, been going to her for years and years. "Wow, you've lost a HEAP of weight" ... trying to be nice, but said in front of other customers, and all I thought was "I wasn't THAT fat". I said "yeah, a bit, thanks".0 -
Congrats on the loss that is an amazing loss. xx0

I agree with others who are saying they probably have noticed from afar...on the other hand, some people just aren't that observant.
When I hit 55 pounds lost, I had a person I see once a week mention "You look like you have lost some weight, maybe like 15 pounds?" I thanked them for noticing and told them I had lost 55 pounds and their jaw almost hit the floor. Honestly, I did have more people notice a 5 pound loss and speak up about it than my current 60+ pound loss.
I think many think it taboo to say they notice and make you feel like you were really THAT enormous before. That has been my experience.
To me, I don't look for the comments from acquaintances. As long as I can see the progress and my husband sees it and mentions it every so often, I am happy with that. As a previous poster touched on, once you get to maintenance mode, those comments will stop and your motivation will need to come from elsewhere.
Anyway, enough of my rambling, AWESOME JOB on the LOSS!0
