Is too much fruit not good?

Is it bad to eat too much fruit a day because of the sugar?
For example:
1 banana for breakfast
5 slices of pineapple for lunch
1 kiwi for dinner
1 Suja Green Delight smoothie for a snack
Is that bad?
Should I tune it down a notch?

The demonization of sugar comes from quick-absorption sources, such as cola, juice, and refined sugars.
As long as your sources are coming from fibrous sources (ie: whole foods, like an actual apple), the digestive process is slow enough that it doesn't cause an insulin spike.
I'll edit with the source if I find it, but the short answer is "whole foods, good. Refined/sugar-added bad."

In some sensitive people too much fruit can raise triglycerides. But that's generally
eating a lot of fruit if not only fruit several pieces a day. You seem fine to me.

Personally, I think it would have to be a LOT of fruit to be considered too much. In one day, I generally have an apple, strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, blackberries, and cherries (when they are in season, which isn't long enough). Occasionally I'll also add in some cantaloup, honey dew, mango, and pineapple. I LOVE my fruit!0 -
As long as you don't have any health issues, then it is fine. I looked at your diary and it looks like you are getting enough protein and fats and enough calories over all, so carry on.0

that does not seem a huge amount of fruit to me OP.
Of course if you are eating other things too and have a balanced diet and are within your calorie allowance - cant see the problem0 -
As long as you are not going over your calorie limit or sacrificing other food groups in order to eat more fruit.0

Agree with other posters.
In general, whole foods = good. But if there is any whole food that can help put on weight, or raise Triglycerides, it's certainly fruit. So although I'm an advocate for real foods, fruit is the one I advise to moderate.
Some fruit is good, but I would emphasize some variety to take advantage of wide variety of micronutrient and antioxidant profile.
My general rule is that the greatest proportion of my fruit are High Antioxidant, Low glycemic: Berries!!!!
This is all assuming that you don't have other sources of junk sugar in your diet....0 -
As long as you don't have other health issues fruit is fine I had to cut a lot of my fruit due to Diabetes...Balance is key0
