You already have a deficit built into your calories. But if you only have 25 pounds to lose, it's better if you set your goal to a pound a week (500 calories off your maintenance).0

That depends. For starters, you'd need an estimate of your TDEE. That's the number of calories you burn in a day, including all the energy your body uses keeping all your organs going, daily activity, etc. That's also the number you want to take your deficit from. But if MFP gave you a calorie goal of 1800 then it should already be built in.0
