Deloading/Cycling Heavy & Light Weeks

My trainer wants me to cycle between heavy and light weeks. I'm reading some articles on it now and getting the big picture, but hoping to get some feedback from people who do this. Benefits? Advice on finding the "right" light weight? I'm also wondering what effect this type of training will have on my body's appearance, and how the fact that I'm still on a calorie deficit might come into play.
Also, I love training and don't really WANT to do a light week, but I'm willing to try. Anyway-I don't know if I want to deadlift like that every week!

I know! I'm nervous about changing up my routine so drastically. I also want to do it right, and although I have a trainer, I have a short time with her because I chose the cheapest option. Plus, even though I love her, I really like to hear second and third opinions as well.0

If you don't get any answers today, I'd try reposting on Monday. More people pay attention to forum questions during the week. Good luck on finding your answer!0
