Best heart rate monitor?

Hi guys,

I'm thinking that it's about time to invest in a heart rate monitor. I'd be syncing it with MiCoach and WalkMeter, and have an iPhone 6, if that impacts. Pros, cons, experiences?

Thanks!

For wireless ones I've heard garmin is pretty good. I've also heard good things about Polar Brand (they have a bluetooth one).

I'm cheap and opted for one that can only be paired with it's watch.

Thanks, mate. Garmin doesn't seem to do one that can easily pair to the iPhone. I'm looking into the Zephyr HxM which looks pretty nice.

What specifically do you want it to do?

For me the big thing is that my heart rate can't go over a certain threshold for very long because I have a congenital heart defect. I've been keeping a pretty close eye on it, but I didn't check for 3km today and then checked in at 152bpm, which is only 20bpm below my threshold. I've been keeping to between 120-140 bpm so far. I'd also like to be able to track my workout intensity more closely.

Gotcha. Any name-brand like Polar, Garmin etc will do a rock solid job of tracking your heart rate accurately.
