The last 15 pounds...

I started with MFP 11 months ago, my first ever effort to lose weight. I'm 5'2", 60 yo. I've gone from 178 lbs to 148 lbs - my goal is 133-135 lbs. I like weighing myself everyday - don't want to miss seeing a new "low" number! I'm on the treadmill for at least 60 minutes everyday (the length of a Korean drama episode) and also go folkdancing 1x/week, and major house cleaning 1x/wk.

Even though I had '1 lb/week' as my goal it did come off closer to 3 lb a month. That's fine - it's been slow but steady. I haven't felt deprived, weak, or grumpy. Now my calorie goal has been automatically dropped to 1200 calories a day. I believe that is the lowest MFP recommends. And of course I'll add approx 300 calories with exercise. I tend to eat my limit of calories everyday.

When or should I reset my goal to 1/2 lb/wk?

We have LOTS of similarities. 5'2" also, and FINALLY someone else with a 130's goal like me (I keep seeing 115-125, but I want to keep some of my curves.) I started back in April and have gone from 184 to 144... now on those last 10 lbs. Honestly for the last couple of weeks, I've been at the 1200 for a 1lb a week loss, and sometimes haven't even lost that 1 lb. I think if you are hungry, change it to the .5 lb a week, but if you're doing all right at the 1200 plus exercise (I eat half to 2/3 of my exercise calories, don't fully trust my heart monitor) keep going with what's working!

Also, congrats on the loss, sticking with it and being healthier! I don't know about you, but it's make a world of difference in how I feel physically and emotionally.

Thanks for the encouragement! My goal was to get to a 'normal range BMI' and I don't think under 130 would be very realistic for me. I have curves too! You make a good point, since I'm not usually hungry I'll stick where I am for now.

Some posts sound so technical that I was wondering if I was missing something. It been simple portion control, keeping in the calorie range for the day, exercise every day, and of course a piece of chocolate.

My husband has joined in and lost 20 lbs since May.

To celebrate my 30 lbs. mark I had a pic taken of me holding a 30 lb bag of dog food. I know the volume isn't the same but the heft sure is. Hard to believe that I was carrying that around all the time!
