Anyone ever tried the vibrating machines?

I was at a home show last year and stepped on a vibrating machine that is supposed to help with health. It is said that a half an hour of exercise can be replaced by standing on this machine for just 10 minutes! Sounds a little quick- fix to me. I live in Ottawa, ON Canada and there is a "gym" that just has this. Some people at work are running off during their lunch hour for "exercise" but I haven't seen any physical changes in them.
Just wondering if anybody else has heard of them or tried them.

Yeah I've tried them.
I wouldn't suggest just sticking to them (and if you did, that would really be a waste of gym membership / entry fee) because obviously a varied workout is better. They're good for toning, I reckon.
When I used them, it was for 10 minutes at a time but I was also walking most days. I wasn't checking my weight at the time because I hadn't weighed myself in a LONG time but people around me noticed a slight difference.
If there's one at your gym that is free to use, I'd go for it! It's just 10 minutes, that's nothing. It'd be good to go alongside a workout. Maybe at the end of cardio. See what works for you0 -
Don't look for the quick and easy. It won't work. Eat right, varied (real) exercise and sticking to it will get you to where you want eventually.
This machine may help with the core muscles but then so will regular exercise.
As my husband told me when I started losing weight "It ain't about being easy"0 -
they have them at my old gym, they are good for toning after a cardio workout. They usually have a chart of exercises to do on the power plate. It can be really intense but I didn't take before and after measurements when using them so wouldn't know how effective they are. (they didn't make me sweat so didn't feel like it was doing much)
They have them in beauty shops in the UK and they're sold as a miracle for toning, but without diet, cardio and stength training nothing is going to shift fat.
I would use as an addition to the gym but not on their own.0 -
I never tried one, but I did watch my wife try one at a home show! It was entertaining to watch though! lol
Are any of your co-workers noticing any difference? My wife has adopted a healthy eating lifestyle and is walking (outside) and doing EA sports on the WII...and in less than two wks she has dropped lbs, feeling toner and her clothes are starting to be baggy! I'd save your $$$$ & your husband's $$$$$ and start living life not just vibrating through it!
Just my two cents!0 -
Hi I have just been for my first session at a new gym this morning and part of my programme is the toning plates but alongside my cardio and weights. I really did feel it though!
