I wrap mine in a paper towel and store in those green veggie bags. Stays a little longer. Hope this helps

Store in the refrigerator. (I use the vegetable drawer) It will last better if you keep the pit in the half you are saving. Also, putting some lemon juice on it will help it from browning.

You can also mash it up and freeze.

I love avacados but my husband won't touch them so I usually have left overs. What I do is leave the pit in the 1/2 that you don't eat/use and I tightly wrap it in plastic wrap. Avacados turn brown when they are exposed to the air-its a natural process. You can also try adding lemon juice to it its supposed to help maintain the color.

I've heard that if its brown you can still eat it, but not if its black. If mixing it or making guacomole just mix in the light brown avacado with the rest and it will be fine.

I slice mine in half and eat the half without the pit first. Then I store the half with the pit in a plastic baggie (the pit keeps it from browning so fast) and eat the next half the next day.

throw a dash of lemon juice in the other half and save it in one of those Rubbermaid containers. The acid in the lemon juice stops it from browning. This also works with apples and doesn't do anything to mess with the taste.

keeping the pit in the other half and covering it with the skin from the half you just ate.. then store in ziplock or saran wrap. I've heard a little lemon juice helps also.

I cut mine in half and put the unused half face down in a tupperware in the fridge. It usually lasts until the next day. I don't peel mine.

I've actually heard its just a myth that the pit keeps it from browning. I wrap mine in plastic and then if it has any brown spots I just scrape those off when I eat it. Like someone else said, it's not bad to eat it if it's brown. Its the same thing as apples turning brown.

dont peel it. thats why yours are going all brown. they'll only go a tiny bit brown on the outermost edges if you dont peel it and leave the pit in until you've eaten it all. its only brown from touching the air, its not going bad, just getting oxygenated. the less oxygen it touches the less of it that is going to turn brown. also store it in the fridge and in your vegetable drawer. mine last for a few good days this way. (there's also the trick of covering them in lemon juice but i think that makes them taste funny and lemony)

Avocadoes that are ripe brown the minute they are exposed to air - quite like apples.

Just keep the pit in, wrap it tightly in plastic wrap and stick it in the fridge. It won't completely stop browning, but it won't go bad if you store it this way and it's still quite edible when brown.

ETA, don't peel it. I cut through the peel when I want a piece of it and store the remaining part with peel on in the fridge.

The pit won't "magically" keep the avocado meat from browning, but if you leave the pit in half of an avocado, less surface area is exposed to the air and it doesn't oxidize (turn brown) where the seed was.
