Walking Speed?

I went walking today with a walking buddy. Unfortunately I forgot to take my pedometer. The last time I went walking at this track, I walked for 1 hr and counted my laps, which totaled 3 miles. My buddy walks faster than I normally do. So, my question is, do I just log it as 3mph or should I bump it up to 3.5 mph? What would you do? I don't want to cheat myself, but I don't want to overstate it either.

Thanks for your input!

I was still able to talk, but I definitely needed a rest after the hour. We walked at a pretty consistent speed the entire time too.

I would log it as 3.0 just to be on the safe side. The difference in calories burn isn't a lot is it?
  • this calc, you enter your info, how far you went and how long it took and it will tell you how fast you were going and an estimate of calories burned.

i'm not sure the distance though. I lost track of the # of laps.
  • I would post it as 3.0 too, just to be safe. I got on the treadmill the other day and was noticing my walking speed. 3.5 was really fast and hurt my shins a little, and at 5.0, it was a slow jog. 6.0 is all out running for me, just by way of comparison.
