Hi, can anyone help me figure this out. When i filled in my profile info i stated that i have a quite sedentary lifestyle yet the profile result has said that i will lose from ordinary everyday activity 1,950 cals a day. Is this right? It seems an awful lot

It depends on your height and weight as well as activity level

Prettty sure that's right - thats what you use just to keep your body ticking over. You're not allowed to class it as exercise tho! lol.

Hope this helps a bit. Shell x

I guess it depends on what you set your height/weight/age/lifestyle at. It does seem a little high to me too, maybe check all the data entry?

Edit to add: Did you set your goal to loss or maintain?

What did you choose as your weekly weight loss goal?

Thanks Heidi, suppose you're right i do carry around a lot of extra weight everytime i do anything which is kinda like an average size person carrying a huge rucksack with weights to increase exercise and cal loss.

Thanks Shell, no i wont class it as exercise lol even though it kind of is (see above). I'm hoping to change my sedentary lifestyle into a more active one soon, one step at a time though i'll get used to eating less first.

Hi Suedre, my info has all been entered correctly. It seems to be true!!

Isn't like 2100 - 2300 for the average person just to keep the body up and running? So any deficit once it adds up to 3500 calories will result in a 1lb weight loss. Most people on average consume between 2800 - 3400 calories. So that's a pound or 2 a month. 5 months 10 lbs. If you can get your BMR that will give you a better understanding.

I'm a 5' 3.5" guy who is sedentary and I burn on average 1900-2300 calories/day without exercise (per my BodyMedia FIT) - MFP sets me at about 2200/day. I don't know how tall you are or how much you weigh, but yes, it's entirely plausible for you to burn 1950/day before exercise.

Thankyou, i feel reassured now  . I was a bit worried that something had gone terribly wrong and i'd end up gaining weight!!
