P90X Questions!

Hey everyone! I'm seriously considering starting P90X and wanted to get some input from those who've done it already. Any insight would be so, so, so appreciated!

1) Is P90X the best BB program to begin with, or should I consider something else like Turbo Jam -- or even something not within BB?

2) What HRMs have you guys had the best experience with?

3) Are there any supplements that would be beneficial, such as BB's Slimming Formula or anything else they offer?

4) What fitness gear would help with P90X, if any? Chin up bar, for sure, but what about yoga mats, resistance bands, etc...?

5) For the first round of P90X, would it be advisable to not adhere strictly to the nutrition plan and instead concentrate on regulating portions and food types? I'm not sure if I'd have the ability to follow the plan quite yet, but perhaps on round 2?

    Hi,

    1) P90X is fine to start with. I was not exercising at all when hubby and I started it. I had to modify, but I got better and better as time went on and lost 30 lbs in 2 rounds with it. I think any of BB programs are worth it though! All of the ones I have tried have given me a great workout. If you think time might be an issue (P90X is an hour to 90 minutes for yoga), ChaLEAN Extreme is a great workout and a bit shorter.

    2) I don't have a HRM, I just use my Bodybugg to calculate my calories burned.

    3) Definitely Shakeology! I cannot tell you how much this has helped me in my weight loss.

    4) A yoga mat is beneficial. You don't have to have a pull-up bar, you can actually do everything with a good set of resistance bands, even pull-ups. He shows you how in the DVDs. I can help you in the set-up of how to do it as well. :)

    5) I got the best results when I focused on getting a certain amount of calories and sticking to the ratios that the P90X nutrition guide outlined rather than following the guide itself.

Hope that helps! I would love to answer any more questions you have.

I use a suunto t3c hrm and my wife has a t1c we like them a lot. P90X is kind of tough to start out with if you are going it alone. I was already working out 3 days a week when I started. I know the origional P90 is easier to start with as is turbo jam. My wife likes chalean xtreme better than P90X because of the no pullups.
