Sabotaging your weight loss subconsciously

I have this thing where if i lose weight, i start to feel weird i guess? I stop doing whatever im doing to lose it by making up excuses such as

"Now Im going to have to by new clothes"
"This feels weird"
"My upper body isnt catching up with my lower body fast enough and i feel like i look stupid"

I think about all these things so when progress does come into play, whether consciously or subconsciously, i use these reasons as an excuse to stop losing weight.

This time around i am very serious about my weight loss and i havent gained everything i lose back, just packed on a few holiday pounds and not that many really. Yet whenever i look in the mirror and i see a roll here thats smaller, or my shape becoming more defined, or my stomach getting flatter its like my mind doesnt want to accept the positive changes in my body and i eat and eat knowing i shouldnt.

Am i making sense?

Does anyone else experience this? If so please share and also let me know how you overcame it or working to overcome it.

You have a feminin body and wonderful curves, maybe you're afraid to loose them?
Or you're affraid to be a different person.

And the Afro-Americans in Europe (mainly from Surinam) love women with curves / flesh. The more, the better. I think the black people in America feel the same. Maybe you keep that every time in your head.

For me it's (un)conciously that people would think I changed and would treat me differently.
  • I actually do the same thing but instead of making excuses of new clothes, etc. I say I lost weight, time to reward myself!! So i reward myself with FOOD, NASTY, GREASY, THE WORST YOU CAN EAT FOOD! Then eventually im back to where i started... But I now have the determination & that lifestyle isnt going to work- making smart choices is!!! I have never been this determined or excited about losing!!! All the support here is great!!! You should reward yourself with new clothes, etc. when you meet a goal! I, personally am tired of wearing these pants that are too tight & uncomfortable. I have a new mind set!!!

Yea that is also an issue, i am afraid of losing my curves.

Goal setting and positive reinforcement is the key to overcoming the subconscious struggle you are having. The brain is a computer and like all 'puters the same applies: Garbage in/ garbage out. Do something the same way every day for three weeks and it becomes a habit. Use index cards or post-it notes to write your goal on in the form of this:
On March 1st I am so happy and grateful that I am 10 pounds lighter.
Phrase it in the present tense like it is already true because that is how the subconscious works.
This will have the subconscious driving you to succeed like it is it's sole purpose.
Post this where you see it several times a day and carry a duplicate with you. Read it every time you get a moment during the day and on March 1st you will be 10 pounds lighter. Set your next goal and continue. Good luck and God Bless.

I managed to get where i wanted to get to, and then i sabotaged it by rewarding myself too much. So- yes, its really a problem!

Excellent movie--- she deserves an award for that performance.

Try what I said in my previous post. I got it from the book: Burn The Fat, Feed The Muscle by Tom Venuto

Thanks for this tip! I will try and implement it!
