Losing 1 pound per day..

I've lost close to a pound per day. It's been 12 days and I'm down 9 pounds. I'm exercising every day, either strength training or cardio, staying hydrated and consuming 1700-1850 a day as well as breastfeeding. My question is-why am I losing the weight so fast and is it unhealthy? I'm a vegan, don't eat any junk food or fast food at all or anything frozen (medically and religiously restricted on what I can eat). If it helps I'm 5'9" and have about 70 pounds til I'm in a healthy bmi range. Is this just how weight less goes in the beginning?

It is probably your wonderful gift from mother nature as you are breastfeeding your child. This is the best thing you can do nutritionally for your child and for your body. I too shed a lot of weight while breastfeeding. Good for you!!0

It has to breastfeeding. When I breastfeed, I lose a ton of weight. As long as you aren't feeling hungry and you're eating healthy so that you LO gets enough nutrition, I say enjoy it.0

Breastfeeding totally helps (I can still practically shed a tear when I think about how fast weight came back *on* when I weaned my first son) but when you are way above your normal healthy range you can lose a lot in a short time in the beginning. When you get closer to goal weight the rate will slow down but for now just revel in your quick progress! Best of luck to you.0

if you are just starting out, its normal, if it doesnt taper off to about 2-3 lbs a week. add more protein and a bit of carbs...
extremely fast weight loss may cause your gall bladder to reduce its workload possibly building gall bladder slugde contributing to gall stones you may have... this isnt fun, becos when you are done with your diet, youll have a severe bloating and pain from this sludge/stones if you eat anything high in fat0 -
Breastfeeding helps! Back when my baby was just born I joined weight watchers and in my first week I lost almost 13 pounds while breastfeeding. It eventually slows down but definitely helps you! Just be careful not to decrease you caloric intake too much as it can lower your milk supply and deprive you little one of nutrients! Congrats on the weight loss!0

The same thing is happening to me. Just about a pound a day. I'm eating all my calories and exercising and staying hydrated. I thought I'd gain at least water weight this week for pms but so far...?
So it's kind of weird but my co-workers are nurses and seem to think it'll slow down eventually.
Hope that helps!0
