Has anyone ever tried bison. I am watching Tony Little sell this product on HSN and have heard that it is good for you. Just curious. Thanks.

It's great. Like very lean beef. Because it's so lean, it has a tendency to be dry if overcooked, so I'd suggest erring on the rare side with steaks. I am particulary fond of ground bison burgers with raw mushrooms and diced onion mixed into the patties. The mushrooms & onions add both moisture and flavor as the burgers cook--but it's still possible to dry 'em out if you're a "well done" kinda guy. PS: I get mine at Kroger and Walmart-- you shouldn't have to buy it from HSN!

Bison is also a good subsitute for ground beef in spaghetti sauce recipies. If you manage to get your hands on a larger piece of meat, you could stew it in the crockpot with some veggies, red wine, and a little olive oil.
I get mine from Gunpowder Bison and Trading in Maryland.
