Remaining Calories Question

I started counting my calories on Monday. I am giving myself 1500 calories a day.

The first few days were rough and I had some hunger pains, but decided to ignore them and go for it.

Yesterday, I had finished dinner and was content, but I still had over 400 calories remaining for the day. I knew I was going to be playing volleyball for a few hours last night, so I went ahead and ate some more to bring me closer to my daily intake.

I've read a few things online, but wanted to get some feedback here.

If I'm not hungry, is it important to hit my daily intake goal? Or is it ok to go under my goal if I don't feel I need the food?

Thanks in advance for your responses.

BTW. I started at 260 on Monday and just weighted in at 250 this morning.
