So I bought these "lite" soups, they are really low in calories and they are tasty but the sodium content is thru the roof! Well thats annoying and I will be checking that out next time I shop, but the conveniance so appealed to me and because its been so cold. Well my weight has barely budged this week, any suggestions of something similar for when time is tight, I know cooking from scratch is best but there are those days....

Yeah, the sodium in prepared soup is unbelievable. Some brands are going with sea salt which seems to be better for sodium levels, but still. Making soup from scratch can be time consuming but I take a weekend day once in a while and cook up a big pot of it - then freeze it up in manageable sized freezer bags ... voila, thaw as needed. It's not so bad once you get it in your routines.

Yeah the low sodium soups I have found aren't really low sodium. They go from 27% to 20% per serving. And I can eat 2 servings easy! Looking into making my own soups.

I hate that soups are so high in sodium. It would be a great low calorie option from my cafeteria at work, if they didn't have between 1000-2000 mg of sodium for a container of it!!! I just stopped getting it all together, and I don't really buy canned soup anymore. The only time I have soup is as a treat when I go to Panera and get it with a salad. Otherwise, it's not worth my day's amount of sodium in one bowl.

I have to limit sodium, so like others here, I have gone to homemade soups and given up on convenience. The good side of this is that homemade is so much tastier and healthier.

If you want some ideas for soups to make that will stick with you and be low cal send me a message. I've got a ton of excellent recipes. None of them take less than a half hour of preparation though, we warned.

Slow food is a lifestyle, not the most convenient one. But it pays off both in taste and in health.

Usually when I know I'm going to have too much sodium for the day I drink lots of water. On average I drink about 10 - 12 cups a day but on high sodium days I try to get 14 - 16cups.
