I have never stuck or even tried very hard to do anything to improve my health. I hate exercise just can't seem to budge I only want to do what I want to do and I have spoiled myself and have never denied myself much in the food/drink selections. I have a brain fight going on daily and I always lose cause I am stubborn and have this mental block that says who gives a rip "I want what I want and I want it now" so now I have gained 75 lbs in the past 26 years and I think I want to do this, I started logging yesterday and did well all day til last night I, gorged myself with candy and chocolate. Today is a new day I need to learn to love myself. Why is this so hard? I have a good life lots of good friends wonderful husband and live comfortably. I am 61 years old and have been retired since I was 50, there has been plenty of time to plan healthy meals and excerise. May be today will be the day with God's help. Thanks for this wonderful website.

The beginning is always the hardest. The fact that you are trying, you're earnestly wanting to change, and know where you are weakest means that you CAN do it!
Part of what helps is getting RID of stuff that you know you will gorge on - at least for now, logging your food consistently, even when you go over, and just saying "no" to the foods you normally don't feel control over.

You can do it! The folks here at MFP are in similar boats, if not the same one. Welcome to a very supportive network. =)

Good luck! If you want to add me as abuddy as support feel free. We are all on the same journey.
  • Show food who is the boss!
I have the same problem at night.... So I save my daily treat to eat at night.
I've decided to no spend more money with chocolates (and other things I use to love eating) I don't have them at home anymore... ANd if I can't take my mind of food I watch a movie or sometimes I go to sleep earlier or go for a walk somewhere.
Good luck today! You are the boss, not that damn food.... They wanna take you out of your goal! And beleive me, after 3 days on diet you will feel more confident and not be so vulnerable
