Sugar from fruit

I know this topping has been done before, but I'm asking again!

I usually have 3-4 servings for fruit a day because veggies are harder for me to snack on. Yesterday I was over on my sugar by about 40 grams and I'm wondering if this can be having a serious effect on my progress. I know I need to eat more veggies, which I plan to do starting next week, but I have read a few people talk about what sugar does to the brain and how it effects the way your body burns fat. Am I doing more harm than good by eating my naturally sweet yet sugary friends?

I always thought that natural sugars aren't as bad for you. I normally don't pay attention to the sugar in fruits

Sugar is carbs! That's the most important thing to remember. Fruit is high in natural sugar (but it's still sugar) and so fruit is high in carbohydrates. Carbs are important to a healthy lifestyle, but they can also be a hindrance if you go over on your daily intake. So watch your sugar intake to help control your carb intake. :)
  • Sugars from fruit are processed differently by your body because they're being consumed with fruit fiber. Juice, on the other hand, is straight up fructose. I wouldn't eat 10 fruits a day, but if you're not eating much refined sugar, having 3 or 4 fruits in one day is no big deal.
  • natural sugars are the sugars you SHOULD be eating. try to remember that your body actually NEEDS all the things we seem to get all freaked out about (fat, sugar, carbs, etc.) its the processed stuff that we eat too much of (a small amount of the processed stuff wont kill you but the less of it you have the better) the sugars in fruits are good for you, when you're craving sugar in actuality it is your body telling you to eat a piece of fruit. i never worry when i go over my sugars from mostly fruit (some diet programs dont even count fruit sugars in your daily sugar allotment because they're so good for you). but i think eating more veggies is probably a good idea (can never go wrong with MORE veggies in your diet) but i wouldnt worry about the fruit, sounds like you do a great job of eating healthy choices. :)

Sugar is still sugar. Your body will still store it as fat if you have too much of it regardless of it's source. I try to keep my fruit to two servings a day.
