KETTLEBELL TRAINING!

Hey guys and gals~
Has anyone tried working out with kettlebells (via cross-fit, workout DVS, trainers, etc)? I recently bought the Jillian Michael's "Shred It With Weights" video and am LOVING it! (although I am using free weights, 8 and 10 lbs b/c I haven't purchased a kettlebell yet) I've done some research and it sounds like this is an excellent way to burn through fat and calories in a shorter amount of time and increase core, overall strength, and build lean muscle. So far, I feel like it is working but I will definitely keep everyone posted.
I am curious, does anyone have any thoughts/pics/success stories from this type of training?
Thanks!

I would love to read responses to this. I keep reading articles about them, but I haven't purchased one yet. I'd like to put in on my list of new workouts.
Any advice?0 -
I am waiting on my Kettlebell workout to get here. Purchased it from QVC a couple days ago. Anxious to get started. Really hoping I like it as much.0

YES! I use to do crossfit training, and kettleballs are def. a key element in alot of the exercises, if you can get your hands on one, it'll def. make a world of difference in your weight loss! You'll def see results within a few weeks0

I have a 10 and 15... get both. Then you can start with one and move up. Or maybe a 15 and 20.0

I have the Kettleworx DVDs and I like them a lot. They have really toned me and I got lots of comments after just 3 wks. I am ready to move on to a bigger kettlebell!0

I have used the www.crossfit.com site for a couple of years while I was in the military. The WOD's (Work out of the day) were very tough. We incorporated plenty of kettlebell exercises in to the WOD's. Instead of spending big $$$'s on buying new KB's just use your dumbbells in stead. Some dumbbells are big enough to get two hands in and swimg them like a KB.
Look up some of the KB exercises on the CrossFit site under the "exercises and video's" link to the left. If you can't find any let me know and I can help throw some workouts your way to try.
Good luck!

I love my kettlebell work outs. I started with 10 Minute Solutions with the Kettlebell. Then began Lorna Kleidman's program Body Sculpting for Women. I like to add in Amy Bento's Kettlebell (2) now and then just for change, but don't think she is the best instructor. I used Netflix to pick DVD's to buy before I try them.
I use a 20 and 25lb kettlebell. 10 was just way too light for a starting place for me. Pound for Pound, because they are not used the same as dumbbells, you use different weights.
I have had one injury by dropping the kettlebell, it was my own fault, my ceiling in the room I work out is low and I swung it into the drywall on the ceiling, it caught me by surprise and I dropped it.
I didn't notice the changes myself, but one of my client's asked me what I did to get such definition in my arms and shoulders so quickly. I don't see it, like I said, but that is where it was noticed on me first. I enjoy the swinging motions and think they are far less boring than just lifting weights a certain way. The cardio aspects are great too. I haven't done any exercises since I got my HRM, so it will be interesting to see the calorie burn.
The key to kettlebell is most of the movements and sets are done quickly. Search Lorna Kleidman online and she has videos to watch. She is supposed to be out with a DVD soon, I'm patiently waiting.
You may also want wrist wraps as I sometime bang my arms with my weights and it looks like I'm into something kinky with bruises from being tied up J/K.0 -
Thanks for all the replies and suggestions everyone! I will definitely check out the crossfit site to supplement Jillian's video with additional moves. I would love to have people comment on my definition/muscles! LOL0
