Okay, so I know this is a really long post, but it was floating around MySpace, and I thought it would be fun to hear about some childbirth and pregnancy stories. My husband and I are contemplating having another baby, and I'm kind of in baby mode. Please respond if you want to and fill it in with your info!!!

Why did you choose that specific name?
My husband chose it. Darrell is after Dimebag Darrell Abbott (the guitarist for the band Pantera), Dean is after my paternal grandfather, and Brandon is my husband's name.
Were you married at the time?
We had been married for 25 days when he was born. Whew!!! Just made it!
What were your reactions?
We were surprised, but really really excited and happy.

Missed my period. And then when the third pregnancy test said "Pregnant" too, I kind of got the hint. :bigsmile:

We both had an idea when we saw his 12 week sonogram. I was positive he was a boy, and Brandon was pretty sure too.

Nope. The only time I got sick was the one time I ate Chinese food while I was preggers.

Not a single one. Which is why it was such a shock when he decided to be born so early.

I wasn't going to, but after about the 14th hour, I said, "BRING ME THE MEDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Did your child have any complications?
He was just early. He had no breathing problems or anything. He did have to stay in the NICU for 9 days because he didn't know how to eat. He was on a feeding tube for the first week and under the bililights, because he did have some SERIOUS jaundice. But other than that, he was just perfect and gorgeous.

Why did you choose that specific name?
Adrea was my maternal grandmother's name as well as my sister's and Jean is my mother's middle name. The twins' father had a cousin named Brandon who was killed in a car accident when he was 16 and Russell is my maternal grandfather, uncle and brother's middle names.

What were your reactions?
Shocked to actually finally be pregnant (didn't think it was ever going to happen) and double shocked when the ultrasound tech told me, "Sweetie, you're having twins."

How did you find out you were pregnant?
I suspected right away. My boobs were SOOOOO tender. But I was still in denial after the home test, too. Got confirmation very quickly at the Dr.'s office.

Since there were two, we decided to find out so we could be as prepared as possible. If there had only been a singleton, we would've made it a surprise.

Did you have morning sickness?
OMG, I was nauseous for the first full trimester. That's how the ultrasound tech first suspected that I was carrying twins. I still had bad morning sickness and it was mostly late in the evening.
What did you crave?
There were no special runs but if I was somewhere and they had Blue Cheese dressing, I had to have it!!
Who irritated you the most?
Their father.

60 pounds
Did you have any complications during your pregnancy?
Not a single one. I was so lucky. I have high blood pressure and that was my main concern since I couldn't take my meds during the pregnancy. My boyd LOVED being pregnant. My blood pressure stayed ideal the whole pregnancy. It only started going back up 2 days after they were born.
How many hours were you in labor?
They knew it was going to be a c-section so they let me skip over the worst of the labor. I only had some strong back pain.
Who drove you to the hospital?
My Dad.

Did you take medicine to ease the pain?
Oh, when the anaesthesiologist came in to give me the epidural, I told him he was the man I'd been waiting for! I wanted to stay awake during the surgery so I could see them right away but I felt the first cut so my OB knocked me out. I was the last one to see my babies!

Brandon - 4 lbs. 11 oz.
Did your child have any complications?
They were and are perfect. Brandon has a soy/milk allergy but he's showing signs of growing out of that. We were truly blessed.

Why did you choose that specific name?
Well with Kyla, I got to pick the name and I wanted something beautiful and unusual. One day I was reading a book and the main character's name was Kyra, so I just changed the r to an l and there you have it! Nicole is my middle name and I wanted her to have it too.
When Alyssa came along, it was the hubby's turn to pick a name and he chose Alyssa. I don't know why he picked it ...he said he just liked that name when we were going thru a baby name book one day. And Rose for her middle name because that is my favorite flower....sweet of him huh?:blushing:

Well with Kyla, it was shock and disbelief that it could happen so quickly....I had only been off the pill for two weeks!!
And with Alyssa, it was utter happiness. We had been trying for 2 years to get pregnant again after Kyla. Since it happened so quickly with Kyla, we thought the 2nd time around would be no sweat too! Not so much..........We had to take 3 pregnancy tests just to convince ourselves that it had really happened!

Alyssa was late.....born on Dec 14...I was induced with her because she didn't want to come out and after an extra 11 days, I couldn't take it anymore!!!!

Nope, not really...a couple of days I didn't want to look at or smell food, but never really any serious nausea. With Alyssa, I couldn't take any prenatal pills though because they made me seriously ill. We tried three different kinds and they all made me vomit.
What did you crave?
Kyla--steak and potatoes
Alyssa--mexican food all the time!!!! and funny thing..she loves spicy foods!!

I will never forget the moment I found out I was pregnant. I just remember this buzzing in my head, and just a beautiful feeling came over my body....wonder, excitement and joy!!

We were trying and honestly, I knew something was going on with my body. That day I was working and my body must be really sensitive because I just felt the "gears working" so to speak. I remember sitting at my desk at work and feeling all this weird churning and stuff going on. I don't know exactly what it was but I had never felt it before and had a feeling it was my body getting to work! I went to Target after work, bought a test, went home and it was positive!

My husband and then my friend who had just told me 2 days before that she was pregnant! Our sons are 3 days apart!

I thought for a minute that I wouldn't find out...but I am impatient and I also realized that it's a surprise and an amazing gift no matter WHEN you find out....and for me personally, it helped me bond with him even more than I already had. 5 days late. Got induced around 8am.....had gone in at 2 cm....after hours of being induced including having my water broken, I got to 3 cm... and had a C-section and delivered him at 8:17 PM

A little nausea early on. I never threw up though! LOL! Just things didn't sit right with me and I avoided a lot.
What did you crave?
Cereal! Especially Honey Bunches of Oats and Cinnamon Life. I also craved green, tart apples and the cliche of pickles! (anything tart)

My hubby! LOL! And rude people that didn't give me a break with I was pregnant, tired and it was HOT!!

Epidural (Man that was awesome!!...I had wanted a natural labor...but with the c-section, it wasn't possible. BUT, I was in so much pain from the contractions and within 5 min of getting the epidural..OMG I felt like I had just gotten out of a warm bath, put on my comfiest pj's and was sitting on a heating pad!! It ROCKED!
Then I had percocet and motrin after! LOL!

I finally got a positive pregnancy test at 3 months. Even the blood test didnt show because my HCG lvls were so low.

I lasted 15 hours before asking for the epideral, it was placed wrong, 1 hour later I could feel everything on my left side , nothing on my right. 2nd Epi was done at 18 hrs, didnt take, 3rd and final epi was a c section epi so i could rest done at 22 hours

He was tiny and didnt know how to suck. But he's a smart lil one , he was sucking by day 2 and released from hospital by day 6

my youngest obviously did at that size... he was intubated for 8 weeks, he had hemmoraging in his brain,hydrocephalus, multiple lung infections, he has bronchial pulminary dysplaysia and asthma, retnopathy of prematurity and is now blind in one eye and has limited vision in the other... he also has other issues not that may or maynot be related to being premature

My husband chose it. Darrell is after Dimebag Darrell Abbott (the guitarist for the band Pantera), Dean
My son and his girlfriend named my grandson Abbott Egan after Dimebag Darrell!!!!
That's cool! My hubby is a big fan and he wanted to do some kind of tribute to him. I wish we would have thought of Abbott. That's a really cute name!!!!0 -

slight bleeding with both, nothing serious

with Jack, went into labor about 4 in the morning, but didn't tell hubby until around 5. about 8 hours

Jack had bilirubin
Ryan swallowed fluid, had to be in NICU. Came home after 4 days, then next day, back in with 104 fever, couldn't get off oxygen. Had mri, ekg, catscan. fluid in lungs. (tech said his lungs were clear when they weren't and ended up getting pneumonia) jerk. spend 10 days in peds.
