Realistic weekly weight-loss

Hi Everyone!
I was just wondering if losing 2.5 pounds a week is a realistic goal? I don't want to be setting myself up for automatic failure, nor do I want to go easy on myself. Any help would be appreciated!

My weight loss at the beginning was 2 - 2 1/2 lbs easy. Once the first month or so was over I was at about 1.6 lbs a week loss... then 1 lbs a week. Then I plateaued for a month and now this week lost over 4 lbs. It's an individual thing and a month to month thing but 2 lbs a week is a safe goal.0
