I purchased a Dehydrator several weeks ago and since then have been making my own dehyrdrated apples, pineapple and banana's to keep around the house to munch on. I figured better to have a healthy snack than chocolate, etc.. I do not add anything to the apples (I am most interested in these as I eat these alot). Can anyone tell me if this are ok to eat. I do add them into my calorie intake, but was just wondering. I don't like raw veggies, so if they aren't can someone suggest something healthy to munch on. Can't eat nuts due to allergies. Thanks.

They're fine to eat, unless you're diabetic (high sugar content).

Just be aware that it's a lot easier to eat more calories with dried fruit vs. fresh. It's easy to eat the equivalent of several apples eating dried apples (since they seem smaller). So, it's important to mind your portion sizes carefully, as both the calories and the sugar content will add up very quickly.

Yeah I looked it up on here and it says 1 cup is 209 calories, so I have been limiting myself to around 1 cup.
  • I was wondering the same thing. I wanna borrow my mom's dehydrator. I love adding pieces to cereal and just munching on them. The grocery store by me often puts really reduced prices on "last week's" fruit every time they get in a new shipment so I buy alot! Big bags of bananas (like 5+ lbs) for only 99cents for the whole bag! Dehydrating them would be wonderful.
  • Remember that you are concentrating the sugar by removing the water, so take care of your teeth!
