Wondering about Health Trends

My doctor, who I've been going to for the last 8 years, just opened his own practice. He's sharing space with a dietician, a physiotherapist and a personal trainer. His plan is to be proactive with his patients' health and to make them healthier through lifestyle changes. The deal is that if you need the doctor you see the doctor, but if you need the dietician you get referred next door, essentially.

I think the whole thing's grand. I've seen a really renewed interest in him with medicine that really helps people rather than putting bandaids on things after the fact.

Has anybody run into this setup before? How's it worked for you?

EDIT: btw, if you're in the Lower Mainland of British Columbia (locals know what that means), I'd be happy to give you his name.

  • Sounds wise and fantastic this is a first for me hearing of anything like it. GREAT JOB to your doc!

They're doing that here in the US, but it's really expensive and you get to pay weekly for the same services!

Yeah, you guys really suffer for no universal health care, I know.

We still pay for everything but the doctor but on a use basis. The doctor is limited in what he can do, but if I needed open heart surgery, it would be free. I have had american clients in that position that lost everything as a result.

I have no idea what a dietician costs (yet), but I'm quite certain it'll be less than the doctor if he were to bill privately.
