I suffer from CHRONIC Pancreatitis ..it is a huge inconvience ..I am not following a specific diet ..I had lap-Band surgery in August and I have had 1 flare up and was able to take the pain w just tylenol. I used to get them 3-4 times a week and have to go to hospital for major pain killers at least every few months.. But I am here to say I feel for anyone who has to go through the pain and naseausness it is crippeling.

I'm glad you haven't had too many issues since the procedure. Are you following a low carb or low fat diet?

I had an acute attack last February because of a gallstone stuck in my common bile duct (I had my gallbladder out the year before). I nearly died because my enzyme levels were so high, but they admitted me, put me on an IV for hydration and antibitotics, removed the stone, and said I should be fine. I've had about three attacks since then beginning in November. I really need to get back to the doctor, but thought I could control them with my diet so I started eating a vegan diet just after Thanksgiving (when I had the first flare). I'm having a flare now, but I think it was caused by not drinking enough water. I feel better today, but it's the third day of barely eating. I'm not sure if my pancreatitis is chronic or acute. Thanks for your reply. :)

That's great! I went to the doctor on Monday and have been referred to see a pancreatic specialist. Hopefully he'll be able to pinpoint why I am having attacks. I'm so malnourished right now from not being able to eat for four days. I'm still on soft foods and am barely making 900 calories, but it's better than the 200-300 before. I'm hoping to advance the diet tomorrow with sweet potato burritos.

It is deffinatly an adjustment, i am well familier with the soft food thing try being on it for a few months.. the only good thing about it is I lost like 30 lbs but the minute i smelt a burger i gained it back!!! LOL ..... good luck keep me posted... sometimes fried foods will do it or anything high in fat. unfortunitly a soft food or liquid diet only helps w the siverity (sorry im a horibble speller) of the pain and doesnt make it go away... it has to run its course then will get better .. i have what you call pancreatic divisim.. its where I was born with an abnormally small pancreas w/ 2 bile ducts that are paper thin.. also the 2nd duct stops in the middle so what ever goes in doesnt come out...

Yeah, I'm afraid that's going to happen to me too in regards to packing the weight back on. I did make my calorie goal yesterday though, so hopefully it won't affect me too much. I did feel better yesterday, but am having more discomfort today. I have an appointment to see the pancreatic specialist on March 3rd, but I'm on their cancellation list too.
I am familiar with the divisim disorder because of another support group I belong to. Some of those members have it too. Are you on yahoo? It's a yahoo group. I'll send you the info if your interested. I'm glad the stents worked for you. Are you taking enzymes as well? I read that alow vera juice and evening primrose oil aid in digestion, but I haven't had good results with them. I haven't been put on enzymes yet.

i used to be on enzymes and it did not help and just made me more nauseaus... so dr took me off.. those oils and stuff I have found do not work for me. Yesplease send me the info that would be great. If you can get in sooner i would try..keep bugging them and they will get tired of hearing from you and get you in (personal experience i had to do that at 1st).. now my dr tells me everytime i see him "i never want to see you again michelle" ... so far I have not had to see him in about a year so far so good. lots of water stay away from soda (syrup in it) i found agrivated the pancreas... it got to the point if I put anything in my body it hurt I have learned to live with the pain when it is not to bad..breathing deeply works it hurts at first but subsides after a few minutes... I hope you feel better

My diet now is pretty healthy. I haven't had soda in over a year, at least. The foods I have the most difficult time with eating now are cheese, eggs, and caffeinated tea. I do drink herbal tea with vanilla almond milk, but it's not the same. :)

Yeah, it's less appetizing when it makes you feel awful.
