Potassium ideas?

Options
Hi all!

I find that I'm always low on potassium on my daily nutrients, what are some good sources? I know apples and bananas, but I didn't know if anyone had any tips on getting more potassium in your diet.

Thanks!!

I just looked at my diary for the last week for potassium containing foods

    Large Pear = 249
    Spaghetti squash (1 cup) = 181
    Cup of coffee (?) = 116
    Kraft peanut butter (1 tbsp) = 115
    Banana (7-8") = 422
    Greek yogurt (1/2 serving, 88 g) = 158
    Blackberries (1/2 cup) = 117
    Yam (orange) (1 cup) = 911 <
    Woohoo! Didn't realize this!
    Pork Chop Loin (65g) = 365
    Carrots (85g) = 272
Oatmeal Crisp Triple berry cereal (1 cup, 54g) = 410
    Orange sweet peppers (1/3 cup) = 262
    Sweet potato (white) (70g) = 533 <
    Another good one!
    Mandarin orange (med) = 140
    Potatoes (regular, 50g) = 164

Hope that gives you some ideas!

    Here's one more: natural salt!

Funny thing I recently came across, typical table salt and even the "sea salt" that we tend to use is missing it's nutrients. Look for natural salt (Real Salt, Celtic Sea Salt are two brands). They still have their minerals in them, one of which is potassium. It's not a huge bump, but there is data suggesting that using the processed salt is just one reason there are a lot more cardiovascular issues (e.g. hypertension) - the big reason is the lack of potassium, so rock on with trying to get enough in your diet!

Oh yeah, and ditto for the coconut water. It's got some great electrolytes in it and can have more potassium than a banana. Awesome to have after/during a workout instead of Gatorade/Powerade.
