Before you make the switch do your research! A lot of people switch to veg or vegan without knowing all the implications and details that it involves. I've been a vegetarian my entire life and was a vegan for 5 years.
    top three pieces of advice
1-make sure you are able to get your protein in (and not but 1/4 from faux meats)
2- take a B12 vitamin or a multi with B12 in it daily (even the most well rounded veg can still be low on this vital nutrient)
3- never stop learning about being a vegetarian and be prepared to answer the same questions over and over "where do you get your protein?" and "why are you a vegetarian".
Feel free to PM me or add me as a friend.

Make sure you get enough protien! That is defintely the most common problem when people start a vegetarian diet. I eat very minimal meat because I just don't love it, but I eat lots of beans and nuts. But that can still not always be enough, If you can tolerate tofu that's a great option or lots of soy stuff will work too. Just make sure you do your homework. Lean protien is very healthy for you and unless you have a moral issue with eating meat, it may just be easier (and healthier) to keep some meat on the menu. Good Luck!!

I made the choice to go vegetarian about 2 years ago. It has not been an easy decision but I am so glad I made it. Giving up meat was like giving up smoking,I don't want to eat meat, but it is soooooooo good. When I started having very vivid dreams about hamburgers and biting everyones head off because I was miserable, I fihured I needed some meat! Now I am more of a flexitarian. I prefer not to eat meat but if I just cant stop thinking about it maybe I need it. I do hope to one day be free of meat.( I honestly believe there are drugs in meat to make us want it,but that is another post all together)
As for recipes I have a ton. I recently perfected vegetarian chili, and can cook Tofu and pass it off as eggs or ground meat!
This one is not very healthy, but was my first go-to meal when I was "crossing over" LOL

    Chicken Fried Tofu-
most people dont like tofu because of the texture and, like a mushroom takes on the flavor of whatever it is cooked with. follow the directions below, they apply for pretty much anything you do with tofu, and then marinate it however you like, herbs and seasonings and a little water - tamari and sesame oil with chinese 5 spice - olive oil, garlic, basil, and italian seasoning, etc.
Freeze extra firm tofu, thaw it and wrap in paper towels or a clean dish towel.put a large pan on top of tofu and put heavy cans or a weight inside the pan. Change the towels often until the water is pressed out. Then cut into thin nugget sized pieces( and marinate in 2 tbsp water garlic powder, pepper, cumin, and paprika. Salt if that is your thing. The longer you let it sit the more flavor it will have, shake the contanier a few times and add water if it looks too dry.
Prepair flour with the same seasonings as the tofu, bread the nuggets, fry them, and enjoy!
    Hope You like it!
