Nervous about tomorrow morning's weigh-in

So this is the end of the first week of the new diet for me--I have logged in every bit of food, and I am under my calorie goal every day. But I'm terrified that I won't have lost any weight at all. I know that part of the problem is that I haven't started exercising yet (I work long hours as a teacher and I'm tired when I get home). This week has been soo hard. I joined the January (no fast food) Challenge, and eliminated ALL junk food from my diet--replacing it with veggies and fruit. I also started eating breakfast, even when I had to choke it down. I even gave up my Friday morning jelly doughnut ritual. There have been some days when I thought I was starving. So if I don't seem some kind of progress tomorrow. . . . guess I'll have to add exercise, although I HATE working out.
I'm inspired by the people who have been doing this for months (or years) and by all the progress I see. I made some big changes in my lifestyle this week--maybe I can start exercise next week. Is it possible to just ease into this program, or did everyone here quit cold turkey?

If you are truly serious about making this a lifestyle change it has to be at your speed, what you are comfortable. Take your time, it took years to put this weight on and it won't be an easy road taking it off. You can do it, set mini goals, which it sounds like you are doing great with already. If you want/need a buddy add me as a friend! Good luck!0

I did the same thing. No exercise at all and just cut my calories down to 1200/day with fruits, veggies, fish, chicken. I was starving all the time. But, I was still scared I didn't lose a pound. It was 10 days before I bought a scale, and when I did I'd lost weight! A LOT of weight! 6.5 pounds! I almost passed out - had to get on and off the scale 4 times before I'd believe it. I know it had a lot to do with the fact that I'd cut calories drastically - I never realized how much I'd eat in a day before I actually started tracking every one of them. You'll probably be very pleasantly surprised tomorrow! Good luck! You're doing great! :flowerforyou:0

You've done very well so far in tracking! Even if you haven't lost any weight tomorrow, please don't get discouraged. There are weeks I want to tear my hair out because I did perfect and lost nothing; then, there are weeks I slipped up and the scale still went down! It can be unpredictable.
Sometimes it takes your body a little time to get used to your new routine, so please continue the great work! And good luck tomorrow.0 -
Lost 3 pounds! I guess this "eat less" thing is working!
Thanks for your support!0 -

Congrats!! I waited several months before I got the nerves to buy a scale and step on it. I figured that no matter what that little dial said, as long as I was eating healthier and cutting out garbage, I was doing something good for me.
It's hard to see a difference because we look at ourselves every day, but I sure do feel it (and notice it with my clothes and my energy level!)0
