Help! We are going out with friends to a Sushi Buffet. I want to be able to plan my meal before I go and stick to it! Does anyone know of so low calorie/low fat options or what is healthy to eat there? Thanks!

Eat before you go so you are able to make sensible choices. I arrive at all meals out full :)

Stick with rolls that aren't fried and are primarily fish and veg. I charge myself 100 calories for each roll (they're usually cut into 6 pieces so 100 calories for the 6 pieces) and 50 calroies for each piece of sushi (fish over rice). Enjoy!

  • I often try to look up calories before I go out to eat, so I know what I'm consuming before I get home and feel remorse! This website has the calories in some of the more normal sushi rolls...

CalorieKing.com also has some nutrition info for sushi. I've also found calorie information for several types of sushi on this website. I think, as with most foods, just be smart about your choices. Stay away from the rolls with fried anything and the ones with sauces. Good luck!

Why make yourself full before going out?! What's the point in going to eat in the first place!
Eat an apple before hand. Sushi is quite healthy when made properly. Stick to ones with rice and seaweed...none of the fried rubbish :)!
Also it's a buffet, try not to over stuff :)

Find something wrapped in cucumbers, non fried, and without cream cheese.

I always get the Alaska Roll with brown rice instead of white if they have it.

The Alaska roll is made up of cucumbers, avocado, and tuna! Super-healthy and really good.

Sometimes I don't want it crunchy and take out the cucumbers :)
